HOW DOES JUVÉDERM® WORK?
During treatment, a JUVÉDERM® filler is injected into the treatment area by a licensed specialist using a needle or cannula. JUVÉDERM® fillers add volume to the treatment area. Results with JUVÉDERM® fillers are not permanent, and retreatment is usually needed to maintain your results.

The hands of time, sun exposure, a smoking habit, our sleep pattern, hormones, diet, weight loss etc. can all affect our skin and lead to wrinkles, loss of volume or under-eye bags. Slowly but surely, we start to lose our youthful appearance, leaving us looking older and less confident as a result.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid is a sugar that occurs naturally in the bodily that performs a variety of functions. One of these is to ensure sufficient elasticity and suppleness of the skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture and is therefore central in maintaining structure and volume.
Hyaluronic acid breaks down more rapidly as your skin ages – at precisely the same time that your body is starting to manufacture less hyaluronic acid. This results in sagging skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and explains why hyaluronic acid is such a key ingredient in many anti-aging creams.
Fillers help to restore volume, strengthen subcutaneous connective tissue and accentuate specific facial features. We use hyaluronic acid from leading brands in all our filler treatments, which is automatically broken down by the body over time.
WHAT IS VYCROSS® TECHNOLOGY?
Vycross® Technology is a proprietary technology designed by Allergan Aesthetics for use in the JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers, specifically
JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC, JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC, JUVEDERM VOLIFT and JUVÉDERM® VOLUX® XC.
The unique Vycross® Technology process cross-links the hyaluronic acid (HA) molecules in these JUVÉDERM® fillers (pictured), that results in a specialized, smooth gel filler. We want you to be satisfied but not worried that it is overtly obvious that you have had treatment. That is why we never "upsell" or try to have you inject more than what will achieve your goals in a way that makes you happy and stress free. We suggest a "start small and add as desired" phylosophy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
There are six unique JUVÉDERM® fillers for different patient needs. They are used to add volume to your cheeks, and also utilized in the chin, in the lips with your desired volume, the jawline and smile lines. Don’t worry about figuring out which one is right for you, or how many syringes you need — that’s your provider’s job!

First, you’ll have a consultation to determine if you’re a candidate for treatment. Your provider should ask you questions about your medical background, including what medications you are currently taking, and discuss the risks of filler procedures. This is standard for any injectable filler treatment. If you’re deemed a candidate, your provider will inject the selected JUVÉDERM® product into the approved treatment area. Be ready to remove your makeup before you get treated! We ask that you avoid Ibuprofen and red wine the day before and limit your coffee intake the day of treatment as these items can lead to bruising.

Certain areas, including the lips (which are full of nerve endings), can feel like a pinch or a bee sting, while others are less sensitive. That said, all JUVÉDERM® products with “XC” in the name are formulated with lidocaine, a temporary numbing local anesthetic, to help reduce discomfort. Plus, we apply a very potent topical numbing cream to the area before your treatment to help reduce injection pain, and ice afterwards to help soothe. During your consultation, ask your provider about your numbing options.

One of the best aspects of injectable filler is that results can be seen immediately! You may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising, but this usually fades over time after your treatment to reveal your true results. There is a recovery time for lip fillers where the lips will appear more plump or swollen for the first 24-48 hours. This is normal and will subside.

This is a temporary treatment—once the effects wear off, you’ll need another treatment to achieve those results again.
How long your JUVÉDERM® treatment lasts depends on which JUVÉDERM® product was used and the area treated. Lip fillers like JUVÉDERM® VOLBELLA® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra XC can last up to one year, while JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC in the cheeks can last two years and JUVÉDERM® VOLUMA® XC in the chin lasts one year with optimal treatment. Fillers for lines around the nose and mouth, such as laugh lines, like JUVÉDERM® VOLIFT® XC and JUVÉDERM® Ultra Plus XC, can last up to 18 months with optimal treatment. JUVÉDERM® VOLUX™ XC, a filler that helps to improve the jawline, lasts up to 2 years with optimal treatment. The JUVÉDERM® Collection of Fillers are the longest-lasting injectable fillers on the market for the cheeks, lips, and lower facial wrinkles.

The price of dermal filler varies depending on the area(s) being treated. During your consultation, your provider will explain what you can expect regarding the price of your specific treatment.

For the first 12 hours after treatment, avoid applying makeup. For the first 24 hours after your treatment, you should avoid alcoholic beverages, any strenuous exercise, exposure to extensive sun and heat (as these may cause temporary redness, swelling and/or itching at the injection site). (So, post-procedure, stick to TV-watching marathons instead of 26.2 mile runs!) Consult with our healthcare provider for further aftercare guidance.
